A sixteenth century castle
Brownsea Castle is a sixteenth century residence located on Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour, southern England. This castle was established in the mid-sixteenth century by King Henry VIII who wanted to protect this place, which is a strategic point for those wishing to enter England. Later the British parliament met here, but the building was heavily damaged by fire in 1895. The castle has been renovated, but it is privately owned and is therefore not open to visitors.
