Caleta de Tulum

This is a small inlet of the sea between the rocks, used as a port by the Mayans. It is now closed to visitors as it is dedicated to the conservation of sea turtle nesting. Between June and October, the white loggerhead turtles come here to lay their eggs. As the species are endangered, their nest is placed in a mesh to prevent local animals such as raccoons, badgers and worst of the human race, destroying them.
