Cueva de las Brujas - Zugarramurdi

One of my favorite things about traveling is the element of surprise. No matter how well planned a journey is, there will always be something, a little corner or landscape waiting to be discovered.

The surprise of the day was the cave of Zugarramurdi. It is a town of 230 inhabitants located north of Navarra, about 80 kilometers from Pamplona. We heard about it by chance, and since we still had time, we went to visit it.

When we got there we saw that the cave was spectacular as well as interesting because of its relationship with witchcraft. In fact, the cave receives names such as “Cave of the Witches” or “The Devil’s Cathedral”.

The caves are a spectacle of nature, and the atmosphere is very peaceful. They only thing that might ruin the visit for some people are the steep paths between the entrance and the stream.

Reality or legend? It doesn’t really matter once you are in this fantastic place and you imagine witches dancing around a bonfire or walking along the paths or bathing in the nearby river.

I recommend that you walk all the routes and caves to fully experience the place.

La ruta ya que así apreciamos el cambio social de sociedades de antaño y las de hoy día. La única pega es la dificultades presentadas para minusválidos ya que en nuestro grupo contábamos con uno y se le hizo costoso llegar a todas las instalaciones.
