Mysterious Abbey

Excellent

In one of the highest points of the village, at the end of the street is the old Cistercian abbey of Culross (from the 13th century), adjacent to the church of a later construction. Considering its dilapidated state it has had 2 restoration processes in the 19th and 20th centuries. We went on a pretty foggy winter along with the tombstones, creating an atmosphere of being in a horror movie. The town was founded by Saint Serf and was the birthplace of another Celtic Christian saint, St. Mungo. Most interestingly, there is a legend that surrounds the place. According to it, there is an underground passageway that houses undiscovered treasures of the old abbey.
