Central and interesting place
El Largo Dr. João de Almeida is a beautiful plaza, though small it makes a boundary between the "modern" city inside the old walled city. Its most notable feature is its central magnificent granite cross. Also here is the most emblematic Baroque building of the Guarda, the Church of Mercy and there's also an excellent view of the Torre dos Ferreiros - the unique triple door of the old walled city. In front of the plaza starts at Rua do Comercio, which as its name suggests, encompasses most of the city's shops.
