Traditional pub

The Duke Ellington is one of the few remaining traditional pubs in Newcastle. Renovation works near the river gave the industrial city a new lease, but the traditional pubs closed, giving way to trendy bars, lounges and upscale restaurant. The Duke is a small friendly pub in Pink Lane, near the Saint Mary and Forth, another nice pub. It's called the Welly is a typical English pub with low ceilings, 4-5 chairs, a bar and a TV that transmits too loudly football games that fascinate many and fills the bar during Newcastle United games. The pub, which is named after the famous jazz pianist Duke Ellington, offers music evenings with jazz, salsa and retro music (programs are available at the bar).
