Classic French restaurant
Restaurant Els is the first restaurant that you find in Nyhavn. They have a small terrace on a cobbled street and serve traditional French dishes; "Els" means "moose" in Danish. We went on a festival day, and the place was bustling. It's been open since 1853, back when it was the stylish place to go if you were taking in a show at the nearby Theatre Royal. On the inside, you'll find an intimate room with frescoes on the walls showing classical scenes. They offer a French four-course menu which changes with the seasons.
