Ruined convent now a cultural center

This is the Spanish Embassy and the Convento de la Compañia de Jesus. It was destroyed by the earthquakes of 1773, an event which ended up leveling many of the old churches and convents you see around Antigua Guatemala. That's part of the charm of Antigua, though...exploring the old, ruined facades of the historic churches, and this building is no exception. Aside from being the Spanish Embassy, it's also a museum, library cultural center which hosts a variety of cultural events and exhibits. The gardens are also beautiful and there's even a cafe with amazing views of the old ruined convent.
