This fort is a monument of the 18th century. Originally, it served to protect the entrance to the Bay of Paranaguá and it is located in the foothills of Mount of the Whale. Its walls are nearly 2 feet thick and 7 feet high, reaching almost to the water. This monument was built by masons and slaves who were shipped from Portugal. It is quite a long walk along the beach to reach the fort which lasted around two hours until I spotted the walls of the fortress, which I also visited by myself. It is a cultural heritage of Brazil since March 1972. One part of the hill is called "The Labyrinth of the gun", where there is a stone trench and battery defense guns of the Second World War.
