Masterpieces

Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, a Spanish painter born in Valencia (1863 - 1923), is one of my favorite Spanish painters. On my first trip to Chicago in the year 1996, I visited the art museum (the largest in the city and one of the most impressive in the United States) and was pleasantly surprised when I saw a poster advertising a traveling exhibition called "Sorolla and Light". So of course I just had to visit. Sorolla was a prolific painter, with more than 2,300 works, and for me it is always a great pleasure to see his paintings which he created during a life spent traveling between Spain, Italy and Paris.
