An institution in Santiago
La Piojera is a traditional Chilean bar located very close to the central market of Santiago. Having a bite to eat here is quite an experience, as it's filled with regulars and tourists alike. We ate pork and drank a "terremoto", the traditional drink made with wine and pineapple ice cream. Personally, I didn't like it as it went right to my head, but it's still worth coming here and seeing the place, with all the walls painted and the musicians playing. Presidents like Allende and cultural figures like Neruda have eaten here, and Manu Chao holds his press conferences in this bar.
