Having spent four years living in the hustle and bustle of New York city I can't tell you how nice it was to get away from all the calamity and reconnect with nature. Long Eddy, heck, anywhere upstate (New York) really allows for a person to step back from it all and enjoy the vastness of nature. If you're headed upstate for hiking, which I highly recommend you do, just be mindful of hunting season dates and, when in doubt, pack bright colors.
