Awesome excursion in La Palma

Excellent

A must do. It’s a very pleasant path surrounded by lime trees. No preparation is needed. It’s a easy or very easy path to follow.

I was surprised by how well the area was taken care of. You can tell they put there resources to work in taking care of this gem. You can do the complete path in three hours, which includes taking time at the various lookout points along the way. They’ll leave you speechless. Along the path, you’ll notice that the color green is predominant. Whatever time of the year you go in, you'll be accompanied by this color.

To get to the parking area, where the excursion starts, you have to go towards the North of the island and just before arrive at San Andrés y Sauces, you’ll see a sign that indicates the start of the “Los Tilos” route. Just part where they indicate and you’ll find a wooded house used as an information point for hikers. Be sure to tell them exactly where you’d like to go and what you’d like to see, I think they didn’t inform us completely. There was some type of misunderstanding in our case, because what we wanted to do wasn’t along the path the women from the information point directed us to.

A little bit ahead, past the parking area, you’ll find a recreation area with a restaurant surrounded by big trees with a spectacular greenness. They sell sandwiches, perfect to take on the trip. We chose the grilled cheese with mojo sauce. They were great! Words can’t describe them.

If you go to La Palma and you don’t feel up to doing the number 1 excursion (Marcos y Corder), I’d recommend that you follow the Los Tilo route. You won’t regret it.

Direct contact with unique species

Escaping to the islands means being in direct contact with nature, with some endemic species that you’ll only find on the Canary Islands.

You’ll find Los Tilos forest, a laurel forest with lime trees located right next to the municipalities of San Andrés and Sauces. Going into these humid, lush forests, where you’ll listen to the songs of birds unique to this region, which are becoming accustomed to human contact because they’ll all come near you if you give one a crumb of bread.

It’s a common site to see hikers throughout the area, going along one of the many routes that go along the island, which is a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.

You shouldn’t leave the Barranco del Agua area (water gully) that they’ve fixed for cycling and hiking. Don’t miss out on the Charco Azul (blue pond), a natural pool that’s closet o San Andrés and Sauces. You can reach it by walking through the gardens and banana fields. They’re as sweet as honey.

If your body begs for more action, don’t hesitate to visit the Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero. If you don’t have your own car, you should take a taxi there, because the walk is pretty long.

It’s a forest perfect for escaping from the city, relaxing, and being in direct contact with unique species of plants and animals.

Highly recommended route

Excellent

It’s one of the first hiking paths I’ve followed and now I’m hooked! In Los Pilos forest, you can on a route that goes up the mountain for two hours, and takes about 45 minutes to come down. It’s simple, relaxing and offers amazing views. You must stop at the viewpoint .The views of the nature reserve are spectacular.

Very nice route

Muy bonita ruta

Excellent
Very nice route ... We made the short one that goes to the viewpoint and then we went down to the waterfall. What is going down to the bar? It is worth taking a stroll under the Tilos with their little birds accompanying you on the way. One of the routes that must be done.
