Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway

More precisely known as the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway, this joins the two coastal towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, on the north coast of Devon. The villages are in the Exmoor National Park, a place of great natural beauty. There's only half a mile between the two towns, but that includes a steep drop, so the funicular was built in the 19th century to aid the transport of goods. Construction began in 1887, and today it's mostly a tourist attraction. There are two cars, each of which can carry up to 40 people.
