The Sunna Mosque is at the end of the Mohamed V avenue, near the royal palace. It was built by the Alaouitas dynasty in the eighteenth century. The minaret was constructed on the north side of the mosque, but later pulled down and rebuilt, stone by stone, on the southern side. The reason why is that King Hassan II wanted the minaret on the Mohamed V avenue. Next door is the Lycée Moulay Youssef, where many of the country's intellectuals have studied, along with Princess Lalla Salma, now wife of King Mohamed VI. The mosque can not be visited if you are not Muslim.
