1 review of Mother Church of Esposende

Sixteenth century neoclassical temple

Esposende Mother Church is in Largo Rodrigues Sampaio and was built in the mid-sixteenth century, but since then has undergone several renovations. The exterior features 3 neoclassical bodies, a central front door that's flanked by 2 identical bell towers. The interior has 3 naves separated by arches, the nave being wider than the side. Around the perimeter there are multiple altars with Baroque altarpieces. The high altar is higher than the rest of the nave and is preceded by a great triumphal arch, the altarpiece contains a crucified Christ.
