2 reviews of New York City Police Museum

History of the NYPD

Housed in a former police station, this small museum is dedicated to the history of the prestigious NYPD and explains its current working methods. It contains a collection of badges, weapons and batons, as well as records detailing the most notorious NY criminals, including the infamous Al Capone (born in Brooklyn in 1899) and George Metesky, who planted 33 bombs during his career, including one in Grand Central Station. It also shows some old police cars and has an exhibition that pays tribute to the fallen of September 11.
