Pachamama\'s Museum

One hundred and fifty kilometers away from Tucuman, on Provincial Road No. 307 Amaicha Valley you'll find the Calchaquies Valleys. It is the only indigenous community of northwestern Argentina that still lives in the area and still retains the diaguita culture that was transmitted from generation to generation.

The town was formed in 1880, has only five thousand inhabitants, and is located one thousand nine-hundred and ninety-seven meters above sea level. It is arid and dry due to the height where it is located. It was called Amaicha in the native language, and the Kakan refers to those characteristics. The Stone Museum is dedicated to rescuing the history of the valley in several rooms devoted to geology, archeology, and textile art.
