Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII

Venendo da via Giovinazzi e attraversando via Tommaso Niccolò D’aquino si arriva in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, seconda tappa del mio tour. Sono arrivata in questa piazzetta cercando l’entrata principale della Chiesa di San Carmelo, che infatti ho fotografato, per via della sua bellezza architettonica. Purtroppo era chiusa, per cui non sono riuscita a vedere l’interno. La piazzetta, che adesso è dedicata al Papa, sembra che precedentemente portasse il nome di piazza Carmine. Ha dei bei palazzi intorno, alcuni dei quali ospitano dei negozi di abbigliamento, un importante bar di Taranto che offre tavolini all’aperto ed una targa dedicata al Papa.

Coming from Via Giovinazzo and crossing Via Tommaso Niccol Daquino you arrive in Piazza Papa Giovanni XXIII, the second leg of my tour. I arrived in this small square looking The main entrance of the Church of San Carmelo, that in fact I photographed, because of its architectural beauty. Unfortunately it was closed, so I could not see the inside. The square, which is now dedicated to the Pope, it seems that previously bore the name of Piazza Carmine. It has some beautiful buildings around, some of which are home to the clothes shops, a major Taranto bar with outdoor tables and a plaque dedicated to the Pope.
