Ponta do Altar Lighthouse

Lit on January 1, 1893. In 1948 the light was red occultations with a range of 10 miles. The original oil lamp became gas in 1954, in 1976 it was connected to the public electricity network and in 1983 it was fully automated. It currently features a simple red flash every 5 seconds with a range of 16 miles. Location: Portimão [37 º 06 'N, 8 º 31' W].
