1 review of Port Gamble

Old logging village that keeps its charm

The town streets of this once bustling logging village have not changed much since the 1850s. The original style of Victorian England has not changed, the houses have been preserved along with the town shop and church. Port Gamble is a national historic site. Be sure to visit the cemetery at the top of the mountain and find the tomb of the U.S. Navy The 1st man killed in action in the Northwest. Before its closure in the year 1995, the Port Gamble mill was the oldest continuously operating sawmill in North America. Port Gamble is also home to the Kitsap Peninsula Visitor and Convention Bureau, in Rainier AVE, a few meters east of the store and the Port Gamble Historic Museum.
