1 review of Prefecture of Martinique

a historical monument

This place is situated opposite the Schoelcher Library, at the beginning of Sévère Victor Street, where you can see the House of Government of Martinique. The concrete building was built in the early 20th Century, inspired Versailles, and has been declared a historical monument. It is a huge building with two stories and a striking white facade linear, with towers at the corners. The entrance is located after passing a staircase, protected by a portico formed by smooth columns, on which you can read the slogan: "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity". The entrance is reserved for administrative staff, and the chamber is closed by a wrought iron fence that surrounds the entire perimeter.
