Sainte Enimie

Small medieval town, very touristy, in the heart of the Gorges du Tarn. It is quite a delight to walk through its cobbled streets, taking us back in time to the Middle Ages. It owes its name to Enimie, sister of King Dagobert, who contracted a skin disease to escape from the marriage the King had arranged for her. She dreamt that swimming in the waters of Burle would cure her. Enimie was cured of her illness, but fell ill again and so decided to stay near the fountain and build a monastery.
