Segovia City Walls

Segovia se trata de una ciudad con una historia verdaderamente impresionante y conocida por casi todo el mundo por el Acueducto Romano que posee. Además de esta magnífica obra ingenieril romana, esta ciudad tiene otros monumentos históricos de gran importancia como puede ser la Muralla Medieval que rodea todo el casco antiguo de esta localidad. Es una de las pocas murallas que se conservan completas en España junto con la de Lugo y la de Ávila. Tiene una longitud de casi 3 kilómetros y es de las murallas medievales más antiguas de nuestro país. Lo que más impresiona de esta construcción es que, a pesar de los muchos años que pasaron por ella, se conserva en su totalidad y todo gracias a numerosas restauraciones y reformas que se le fueron realizando. Hay muchos tramos en donde se confunde con las viviendas que se edificaron cerca de ella a partir de los años 1400. En otras partes, la muralla se encuentra totalmente sola sin ningún tipo de edificación cercana a ella. En la actualidad cuenta con 3 puertas de acceso y tiene un espesor de unos 2-3 metros a lo largo de su perímetro. En definitiva, para aquellos que vayáis a visitar Segovia, no os olvidéis de que existen monumentos históricos tan importantes como el acueducto romano. Uno de ellos es esta muralla del S.XII y que fue declarada Monumento Histórico-Artístico en el año 1941 y que podemos disfrutar, en todo su esplendor, gracias al perfecto estado de conservación en el que se encuentra.

Increíble y 100% recomendable. Una ciudad que enamora por donde quiera que vayas. Un descubrimiento detrás de otro. El acueducto, con su maravillosa construcción sin cemento alguno, la catedral, con su increíble órgano y el alcazar, todo en él es maravilloso e impresionante; estas son solo algunas de la gran cantidad de cosas que me enamoraron de esta ciudad. Y que decir de la provincia en general; Pedraza es visita obligatoria si quieres saber lo que se siente al viajar en el tiempo paseando por sus calles y saludando a la pequeña, pero agradable población. Sepúlveda es casi también un viaje en el tiempo (aunque he de decir que bastante más masificada). ¡Ir en coche desde Segovia hasta Sepúlveda y parar en cada riachuelo, cada iglesia y cada castillo que nos llamaba la atención es algo que todos deberíamos hacer alguna vez en la vida! Hay que visitar el mundo entero, pero me sorprende que, con maravillas como esta, la gente se plantee como primera opción el extranjero. España es sencillamente preciosa en cada rincón de la península.

And what about the province in general; Pedraza is must if you want to know what it's like to travel through time walking the streets and waving at the small, but nice people. Sepulveda is also almost time travel (although I have to say that much more crowded). Go to drive from Segovia Sepúlveda and stop at every stream, every church and every castle that struck us is something everyone should do once in life! You have to visit the world, but I am surprised that with wonders like this, people raised first choice abroad. Spain is just gorgeous in every corner of the peninsula.

Les murailles étaient aussi des murs de soutènement, n'oublions pas que le centre de la ville est perché à 1000 mètres d'altitude.
