1 review of St. Jacob's Church

St. Jacob's Church

The church was begun in the fourteenth century using the same techniques as the Cistercian monastery in neighboring Sedlec. Situated in the proximity of the silver mines, it was funded by the growing bourgeoisie of the time. It was originally designed with two towers in front, but the second was never finished because neighboring underground mine never gave sufficient stability to adjacent land. The church is only open during religious services, its tower can be seen from all points in the city.
