Sucevita Monastery

Sucevita Monastery was built in 1583, and is located in the northern part of Romania. It is in a small town that is located right on the border of two countries: Ukraine and Moldova. It's a classic Moldovan church. It features five rooms, and has small corners that are richly decorated. The frescoes are wonderful, with lots of color and exceptionally well preserved. The church was built by the three Movila brothers in the late sixteenth century. It is the only church that has not been founded by a prince to power, although Movila came from a noble family. After construction, one of the brothers, Ieremia became the leader of Moldova and the other, Simon Valachia reigned.
