The Tolbooth

Heading downhill from the famous Stirling Castle, in the same street as the historic Mercat Cross, is another of the important historic buildings in the city, the Tollbooth. We are facing one of those buildings that have served all kinds of purposes throughout history, prison, court, chamber of commerce, and municipal building ... Today it is a kind of independent music hall theater, but it's not in good condition and hasn't been very well preserved at all. Considering the historical background of both the city and the building, I really feel that it deserves better treatment.
