The Tray of the Convent of Christ

3 reviews of The Tray of the Convent of Christ

The Tray of the Convent of Christ

Excellent

Originates from the XII century. Its construction was based on the Church of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. It is integrated in the Convent of Christ in Tomar (Portugal) and happened to be the headquarters of the Order of Christ in Portugal in 1356. It has oriental touches and a cylindrical military structure to protect the tabernacle. It also has a central drum with eight octagonal pillars, each with four columns and remarkable works of art (frescoes) and XVI century sculptures.
