This arose when buses were banned in west Belfast as they could be used for roadblocks. Many drivers act as tour guides and the experience of catching a black cab is becoming one of the main city attractions. The Black Taxi takes you to sites that are linked to city history and politics, such as the Falls and Shankill roads and Peace Walls. The cars have a huge capacity, the driver takes a default tourist route, explains the murals and the stories of the places and answers your questions. A problem is that for 1 person it's expensive as the price is for the taxi. We only used it to go from end to end of The Falls Road and it was 6 pounds, using it as a normal taxi - we did the tour on foot.
