Historic area

Located in the Midlands , this area was once where the headquarters of the Kings of Ireland was located. It is one of the most historic counties of the island, and has an overwhelming array of sites to see. It is known for being one of the first settlements in Ireland. The largest city in the county is Navan, although the city of Trim has technically had more historical significance.

There are many things to see here, but among the most well-know in the areas are Newgrange (declared UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Hill of Tara, which was used as a headquarters by the Kings of Ireland .
