1 review of Newtown Cemetery

Amazing site

Very close to the famous Trim castle, if walk up a country road for about 2 km, you will find this secluded cemetery. Like many Irish cemeteries, the arches of ancient churches, abbeys, Celtic crosses, and even the decorations of the graves are all made of stone, making you feel like you are in a special place.

Additionally, there is a corner in Newtown that is very special and not many people seem to go there! Here, amid the ruins of the old parish church of Newtown Clonbun, there is a tomb with a couple carved at the top. The man and the woman are separated by a sword, and maybe it's why they are known as "the jealous man and woman".
