Highly recommended

The city of Valga could be considered completely casual. If driving from Tartu, once you pass a couple of villages, you have arrived and you can go through them, first uphill, then downhill. Before you know it, you are about to enter its twin city Valka in Latvia. Although it's a small town, there are 16,000 inhabitants. This border town, which was once very neglected, is experiencing a slow process of modernization, making it the perfect stop along a journey. This, together with the Latvian town of Valka, was a region disputed by Estonia and Lithuania during WWI. To resolve the conflict, a British mediator proposed the current border, dividing what used to be one city into two.
