I lived in Foz de Iguazú a few years and with certainty the Confitera Jauense makes the best chicken leg with cheese from the three borders (Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina) tried by the majority of people visiting the city. This confectionery makes the best pies, crackers, and snacks in town. It has it's own parking, and a tea salon with 70 seats. Friends usually meet here to enjoy the delights, and chat in the evening.
There are tables inside and outside the building, and it's nice and clean, with good lighting. There are plenty of recommendations for beer available, and the wine doesn't disappoint, either. The menu is varied. Super recommended!
This is a restaurant, in function room style, which is super close to the Iguazu Falls. At night they have big shows where tourists can enjoy numerous performances of all types of Latin dances. The show is very colorful. The food is buffet, but it is all rich. They make incredible mojitos.
This candy store is one of the best spots in the city of Curitiba. It specialises in Polish cuisine, and you can enjoy all kinds of sweet and savoury dishes: a kind of colonial coffee, as well as pastries, tea, hot chocolate, juice, and plenty of sweets. You can also enjoy typical Polish cuisine - soups, salads, sandwiches, etc.
This is a good choice if you want Mexican food. There's a rotating basis of special offers - on each day of the week, you can try something different! It's a nice place for a chat and a beer. The restaurant also has a special menu for children.
If there's one thing I love about Curitiba, it's the number of good restaurants at affordable prices. My favourite is the Batel Grill Steakhouse, located at the end of the busy Avenida Batel. It's a steakhouse with plenty to offer, but if you're not a meat lover, it also serves sushi. Personally, I don't like Japanese food, but my friends have told me that the sushi is very good. There's also a huge salad bar, and they offer pasta, including really good fried gnocchi, and creamy polenta. Lunch Tuesday to Friday costs US $ 40.90 per person, and dinner from Tuesday to Saturday also costs the same.
The Madero is the best place to eat a burger in the city of Curitiba! The owners started it a long time ago, with the first restaurant right in the centre. At first it was just takeaway, but it became so popular that they introduced seating, and now it's always full. They serve other meat dishes, but the burger is their specialty. Everything is beautiful and clean, the service is friendly ... a perfect environment! Desserts are also fantastic, especially the brownies. Don't miss it if you're visiting Curitiba!
The Buffalo Branco is a known grillhouse in Foz, where you can enjoy local specialties like steak or grilled meat. The restaurant is usually filled with foreigners, which is normal. It works this way: there is a (65 reais on top of which they gave me a discount) fixed price that includes many types of vegetables, salads, hot dishes, but mostly includes meat, which is unlimited. While vegetables are at the buffet, the waiters constantly pass with the most diverse meat specialties served on a sword. I counted at least 10, including roast chicken and grilled heart. All very good! Drinks are separate. Another table has desserts and fruit. You will notice a very different level of service and quality from most of the other places, so the price is more than justified.
The vast majority of tourists visiting Foz do Iguaçu have no idea that here is where the largest islamic community in Brazil resides. It's nice that the tradition of the Arab culture is present in a hotel in the city that receives an many international events. As I am a native of Foz, I already knew the hotel restaurant Foz do Iguaçu and its good reputation, but it was also in the famous and traditional Quinta. It was Arabic when I went there. Located in the city center, it is open to the public, not only for hotel guests. The restaurant is an optimal option for lovers of authentic Arabic cuisine, and for a reasonable price.
The Puerto Kattamaram is part of The route with panoramic view of the Hidroelectric Power Plant in Itaipu. With a spring cover, and a wide view of the dam that forms the beautiful Lake Itaipu, the restaurant is an option for both visitors to the plant, as well as those who want something different and more sophisticated in Foz do Iguaçu. With heating, it's very nice and has excellent service. The buffet, available only on weekends, has a good quality / price ratio at R $ 45 per person. The house also offers various dishes a la carte.
The Barbaran bar is not very easy to find, as it's located in the centre of the city, and not everyone knows it. It has no big sign outside, and is close to the Ukrainian Society. But inside you can find all kinds ... hipsters, non-conformists, families, people enjoying an after work happy hour ... this is a welcoming bar, with something for everyone! The menu is mainly Ukrainian dishes, but they're delicious, and the prices are great - I even took a picture of the menu to show them off. Entry is free. The bar is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 16h.
This is one of the chicest options in the city of Curitiba. Although dining options in the area are limited, the quality is much higher than other restaurants in the area. The flavours are delicious, and here you can buy food by the kilo, from a varied buffet. There are several options of salads, Japanese and Chinese, shrimp, pumpkin, salmon, and more. A kg of food costs around R$40.00. A good choice.
If you go for a walk in the city of Curitiba, be sure to visit the Durigan wine shop. It is located in the Villa Santa Felicidade, with many bars and restaurants nearby. It is of Italian origin, with an extensive wine cellar where you can enjoy fine wines, sparkling wines, grape juices, spirits and more! They also sell cheeses, meats and chocolates. It's clean and cozy, with friendly staff. Well worth the visit!
This is famous for its sandwiches and stuffed potatoes, but I quite like the salads, with a good price. There's a classic caesar salad that comes with chicken, as well as a blue cheese salad. You can also try some great desserts - very good cheesecake and apple pie, but nothing can beat the brownie. Great juices, too - my favourite is strawberry and watermelon.
Baggio's Pizzeria is one of the best value pizzerias in the city of Curitiba. It's located in a very old house which resembles a typical Italian restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the pizza, which is very tasty indeed. The crust is thin, and you have the health-conscious option of wholewheat pizza available. They also serve salads, although it's rare to see people opting for them. The menu is quite varied, and there's also a great wine and beer list. A large pizza of 12 slices is in the range of R $60. It's always full, and you can get takeout or delivery, too.
This restaurant is located in the famous Italian neighbourhood of Santa Felicidade. Although Madalosso is the most famous restaurant in the area, I really like this option, with a traditional menu that has remained unchanged for many years. The food is simple but delicious, and they will bring food to your table until you tell them to stop. They have salads, chicken, gnocchi, pasta, fried polenta, risotto, and lasagna with cheese or ham. It costs $ 35.00 per person and the 10% service charge is not included.
