The Saskatoon Farm is located about 30 minutes south of Calgary and is an extremely popular attraction for locals and visitors alike, especially in the warmer months. The Saskatoon Farm features a restaurant (which I haven't yet been to, but I have heard great things), an art gallery, a shop full of local goods such as jewelry, skincare and baked goods, and a frozen food section where you can purchase foodstuffs made at the Saskatoon Farm, such as homemade ice cream, bison chili, a variety of soups, sausages and more. When in season, the farm also sells tons of vegetables and fruits (and, of course, Saskatoon berries!) that they grow right on the farm. There is also an animal viewing enclosure (not a petting zoo) which keeps the kids entertained.
The Giddy Up Cafe is located at the beautiful Saskatoon Farm, about half an hour from downtown Calgary. We go out to the farm all the time but we had never eaten at the restaurant. It's always super busy so we figured we'd try it out today!
The menu has a variety of breakfast options, soups and salads, a few sandwich, and an extensive Mexican section. (And desserts of course - Saskatoon Berry Pie anyone?)
I had the vegetable enchiladas and they were delicious. My boyfriend had the Buffalo barley soup and was also fairly impressed. I wish we had saved room for dessert - they make all of their ice cream in house!
The décor is rustic and farmhouse-esque, and the service is probably the best part about this place. Definitely be sure to check it out if you're in the area!
