Merzenich is a classic German "bakery." Founded in 1986 by a prestigious family of bakers, it has since expanded throughout the city thanks to the quality and variety of the food. Things like delicious fresh breads, pastries, cakes and everything else a German bakery would offer. My favorite thing? The triangular bread with sesame seeds, raisins, and various nuts.
Located in Cologne's old town is this small restaurant with a menu full of German specialties like sausages or schnitzel accompanied by different garnishes. Of course, you must order a Kölsch beer. It's highly recommended for the good money value.

Apart from the set menu each day, there are new dishes that vary that they write on a chalkboard.
With an ideal location in the heart of the city, and within walking distance of Cologne's famous cathedral, you just have to have a beer in Brauhaus Sion, an local institution. You'll find groups of Germans singing loudly, toasting with huge jugs of beer, enjoying schnitzel and chips in large portions and other culinary specialties of the region. All this at a relatively reasonable price considering the quality and especially the quantity ... don't miss it!
Between the streets of the old town and the Rhine, this restaurant is ideally located for tourists who are looking to enjoy the city of Cologne. It serves traditional German specialties (hams, sausages, etc) in an environment that does its best to convey an authentic atmosphere of medieval Cologne. You can enjoy a nice dinner here for between 10 and 20 euros, and the house itself is absolutely beautiful, classified as a historical monument.
Like all big cities around the world, Cologne has its own Hard Rock Cafe. Here, rock fans can find everything they need. The legendary atmosphere of the restaurant is alive and well in this German city - a safe bet for a crazy night in Cologne, especially since it is located near the old town, which is always lively at night.

If you only visit one bar in Cologne, make it this one! Friendy and warm, it has a great atmosphere and impeccable service. The waiters are wonderful, and the bar is located in a lively neighbourhood in the heart of the old city. It's the perfect spot to go out and enjoy the city.
The Culinarius is one of the most popular restaurants in Cologne, and after visiting, no wonder, because you're transported to Italy. It's run by a family who treats customers like friends, in fact when I mentioned I spoke Italian, from that moment they changed to it. Both the menu and the restaurant's old photos of the founders of the restaurant in his native Italy, and the food could not be more varied. There's classic pasta and pizza, but also fish and meat, and spectacular salads, or you can create your own at the salad buffet. The wine selection is also extensive, but includes mainly Italian ones.
It's a very nice cafe in Cologne's Latin Quarter. The service is friendly and the food is pretty quirky, colorful, and tasty. It's a good place for a coffee or a nice lunch in the middle of day. Prices are cheap, since it is not the usual tourist trap.
Right next to the Cologne Cathedral is a multi-storey building that hosts the most famous beer hall in the city. Frueh am Dom has a special charm. All its decor, ambiance, and the different areas, make your visit mandatory. You can not leave without visiting Cologne. In this restaurant, the Kölsch beer is typically served in a small glass (unlike the other restaurants in Germany), and the waiters, to keep track of the orders, mark your beer orders on a coaster, but the truth is that if you are in good company, in that wonderful atmosphere, a few beers get left off the tab. They also have a catalog of beer things they sell there. I really recommend you go there if you are in the area. Note: My wife's, Poyui, opinion posted on Ciao.
