In Vientiane there's an endless variety of bars and restaurants, you can find all kind of establishments, there's foods from all over the world and, of course, excellent Laotian food, plus there are bars to suit all tastes, from refined cafes to gambling dens that only locals find. The ones I like are the latter and, therefore, most of the time we went to small establishments with just a serving counter but with extraordinary atmospheres. The best places of this type, for my taste, are those consisting of small shops that have several tables set up on the street for people to have their drinks. These types of bars are everywhere and are very cheap. One of the bars that I liked is on the main street of Vientiane. There is no sign or label to identify it. It consists of a small cart that is fixed on the street, next to it there are three tables with chairs. It specializes in smoothies with a banana that are delicious, huge, and only cost 50 cents. In addition to excellent smoothies, what I like about this place is the kind of people you encounter. Usually there are always people "trapped", ie tourists who have been trapped in time, they came to Laos years ago and have stayed there forever. You have to eat but you have some amazing adventures. Those who appear in the photos are an Australian who had problems with alcohol and a Chinese who lived as he could off the music and what he drew on the street. Two wonderful people with whom we spent some very funny moments.
