It was opened in 1983. It has an extensive menu with all kinds of Peruvian specialties. It's a beautiful building made from white wood built above the sea with a walkway whose sides are bordered with shops. It's more expensive than normal for Peru, but the food is great and the environment is wonderful.
La Bistecca is a buffet restaurant, located in a very nice area of Lima, and the food there is delicious. If you celebrate your birthday there, they give you (the birthday boy or girl) a liquor drink, a special piece of cake, and then the waiters will all sing happy birthday to you in Italian. Something interesting about this restaurant is its bathrooms because they have been decorated in a special way. In the pictures I've attached you can look and see what I mean. I recommend this restaurant when you're in Lima.
The good thing is that it is situated next to the Plaza de Armas, because it is not on the usual tourist circuit there is always room. Lovely food,we ate chili chicken, stuffed pepper, all great, though, if you go, go when you are not in a hurry because gare really slow in serving the food, and they do it in the moment, there are also a set meal. The price is not cheap to Peru, is intermediate but very good quality and very nice atmosphere.
During our stay in Arequipa, we were recommended to eat in the La Nueva Palomino restaurant. It is a place where you can taste the culinary specialties of this region of Peru. The clientel is predominantly local, as it is a usual place where people celebrate special occasions. We were advised especially to try the shrimp soup (admittedly,it was exquisite) and shrimp chicarrones. It is also possible to eat any kind of meat (beef, chicken, alpaca, guinea pig ...) grilled and roasted. The presentation of the dishes is very elegant and the service is good. The restaurant is very cozy and spacious. The desserts are highy recommended.
La Granja Azul is a very nice country restaurant located right off the main road, very close to Lima. The house specialty is grilled chicken, better known internationally as chicken on the spit, but with a Peruvian touch. Here children and adults can both have a good time, as there's a large entertainment area. For those who don't want to be out in the field, the restaurant has a big colonial house with several rooms.
It is to the side of the Miraflores Central Park (park-center-of-Miraflores). It is perfect for a quick drink, snacks, sandwiches or pasta, as it has a big terrace next to the park, and the juices and smoothies are tasty. It is a great place for a drink at night, as the park is very lively.
One of the most well known restaurants in the city of Cuzco with one of Peru´s most renowned chefs, Gaston Acurio. Eating here is difficult, as it is always full. It is recommended to reserve a table in advance to enjoy this Peruvian kitchen. There are traditional Peruvian dishes in addition to fusion plates. The ceviche and stuffed eggplant were both great... and for dessert, the stuffed truffles.
This is a trendy restaurant in Arequipa so it's best to make reservations. The famous Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio serves a modernized version of the traditional Peruvian food, focusing on local products grown in the area in which its restaurants are located. The restaurant is very cozy and has different atmospheres. Casona is located in Santa Catalina, made of the ashlar limestone typical of this area. You enter through a courtyard with a central fountain, and once inside, you can opt for the terrace or one of several dining rooms. The service is exquisite and the food ranges from different types of corn-based breads, to die for, up to desserts, all presented elegantly. For Peru, their prices are expensive, but as far as value is concerned, it's really not. We paid 60 € for two people, with two courses each, dessert, coffee and drinks.
Pueblo Libre (it's one of the oldest districts) is known for having a colonial atmosphere. La Taberna Queirolo is one of the largest producers of Pisco in the country and has an agreement with the municipality to make a whole day dedicated entirely to pisco. During this day, they have plays, folk music, and a variety of pisco drinks made with different fruits like mango, mint, lucuma, etc. An ideal setting for a summer evening. One of the things I like about the place is the old photos of the early years of the republic that are hung on the walls.
This terrace in Miraflores is out on the street, but it gives you that feeling of eating in a restaurant at the same time. This simple and open space that the owner and chef, Coque Ossio, dreamed up has become a meeting place for beautiful people. It offers a small menu of light and cheerful dishes in a relaxed atmosphere where everyone can see and be seen in this small square. A place to share a glass of wine after work and enjoy good conversation.
This is one of the 'huariques' (popular restaurants) with the most 'Barranco' atmosphere. The always full Canta Rana is decorated with lots of flavor. Its walls are crowded with memories, pictures, banners, flags, and sports trophies. The tables, close together, allow just enough room for the waiters, colourful characters, to get by. As for the 'huarique' dishes, I highly recommend ceviche and fish chowder (a delicious fish soup with rice, milk and very spicy seasonings).
In some guides we had read, that it was one of the best restaurants in the town of Aguas Calientes, and really we went there with high expectations. As we entered, the decor did not attract our attention. As you can see in the photos, is unique and unlike any other place I have been to before. The service means that from the first moment, you feel very comfortable and ready to enjoy your meal. And what about the food ..... The Quiche Lorraine, great. Just as the male trout and chicken with passionfruit. The pasta is homemade, and it is put with 5 kinds of different sauces. The dessert menu is not extensive, but worth trying is the homemade apple pie.
This restaurant was established by two Swiss refugees and an English couple in the 1950s, when the Horseshoe Beach was still a hot spot. Situated in Switzerland, the Swiss Corvina, ceviche blends seamlessly mixed with lemonade overlooking this beach only in the desert and isolated from the big city. The dessert, a mythical place like this could only leave a good taste, mix the caramelized apple pancake with vanilla ice cream. The portraits on the walls attest to this meal with tradition.
Located in Cuzco, and 3,300 metres above sea level, it can take a few days to get used to the altitude. I went to lunch at Pacha Papa, which is located in the pleasant neighbourhood of San Blas. The restaurant is enclosed around an inner courtyard, where there are also outdoor tables, but above all, there is a wood oven. It is a remarkable ancient structure that looks great. The preparation of the fish is amazing, like a religious ceremony that is repeated with great care. Highly recommended.
