Just like Peratallada is one of my favourite towns in Catalonia to escape the city, within it, Candelaria is my favourite restaurant in Girona.
The menu changes every 3-4 months (depending on seasonal ingredients and the imagination of the chef), but retains the charm of the typical products and the modern preparation style.
The decor is stunning, the colours, the details of old memories that adorn every corner, providing a different view of the place depending on where you sit.
And the best I've seen in a while in a restaurant in terms of presentation and care of dishes. I’ll explain: I like to try variety, so I usually order dishes to share with whoever I go with (almost everywhere). Well, here when we share dishes between 2 people, the 2 dishes are prepared separately, perfectly presented and very pleasant rations. For my liking, the best.
The food is exquisite, dishes always original and very tasty. The range of wines is also good and the prices are quite reasonable (if you go, let them advise you on wines, they have some rich and curious things).
That said, if you’re around Girona and stop in Peratallada, I assure you will not regret it, and if you eat in Candelaria either (if so, let me know).
The Bar Restaurant Nord Est is a spacious local watering hole with cocktails, juices, wine and tapas. It's very nice to sit on the terrace that overlooks the harbor and enjoy a good mojito, or Bloody Mary, or in my case, a kiwi juice. Also, inside the room it's very nice and decorated with some plants and there's a large window to see the ocean. They also tend to host small exhibitions for local artists. Inside there's a small boutique with handmade crafts and clothing.
It was a rewarding experience in every way, I am amazed at the creativity in preparing the dishes, the care with which they serve and explain the composition of the dishes being served. The wines selected for the tasting menú were not to my taste, but this posed no problem when indulging in their great cuisine.
In the Plaza Mayor of Besalu, or Freedom Square, there is a medieval building from the 13th and 14th centuries. Nowadays, this building hosts a restaurant, which was really surprising for me because I thought it was the Papal Curia. Many years ago, it was home to the courthouse and the royal court. Now, you can taste delicious dishes like prawn carpaccio, duck with pears, pig's feet, or grilled meats, as well as the ever favourite desserts like Catalan cream. At that moment, I thought of my daughter and how much she likes the famous cream. The wines served are white or red from the famous Peralada Cellar and the extra brut sparkling wine from the same winery is really amazing.
It is a restaurant of sandwiches that is average, don´t go with children, you attract attention and the business dinners feel the same, they annoy people. The service of the workers is good but the service of the owners isn´t, with a ¨hey champ¨ they thinkeverything is fixed. They have regulars so don´t feel they need to maintain new people. I won´t return.
Maybe the decor is a bit like your grandmother's house but the food is very good. For the first course share tempura asparagus with romesco sauce - very good, for seconds the grilled chicken with potatoes and escudella with pelota. The chicken was perfect but the potatoes were frozen (not good for a site with homemade things). The vegetable soup was a little sosilla. The pelota was correct but the pasta was a bit soggy. Large plates and the romesco was very good. A very good deal with quite a variety of desserts.
We arrived at this restaurant on the rebound, since the one we had booked told us that the menus were gone: (. So we tried "La Poma" and it was a success. The place is small, but very nice and cozy. The service is excellent, despite the wait. Trouble was we came on the ady of some festival and everything was chock-a-block. But the service was good. The menu is very interesting and has a fair price. Salads are outstanding and there's a very good wine list. We liked the place and we had fun. When in Girona again, I will return.
The Lechazo Meat and skewers can never be forgotten... this is a bar and restaurant in Girona, and everyone ve tries it goes back for more!!!. Excellent also is its great selection of tapas and other dishes. A delightful hotel. The Bar Restaurant Village is located in the Old Town of Girona, well situated, with some fantastic views, tranquility around, you can walk, enjoy a nice sunny day and then a good service at The Bar Restaurant Village. The Bar Restaurant Village was completely renovated in January of 2012. Family treatment. It specializes in the Lechazo Skewers and Grilled Meat. But it also offers different combinations of meals, pizzas, great assortment of Snacks, in short, seafood, Catalan and Mediterranean.
This is a restaurant conveniently located in the old town of Girona, near the cathedral in the Jewish Quarter. We had lovely baked fideua here, and a dessert of orange cake with chocolate that was also delicious. The decor and cleanliness is very good, and the owner is helpful and welcoming. Recommended!
In the historic center of Girona, we were searching for somewhere to eat after visiting the Cathedral, when we found the lovely terrace of this restaurant. For some reason, we were struck with it so we stayed. Overlooking the historic area, it had a daily menu of local produce but with very original dishes. The cuisine was mainly modern fusion. In addition, the young waiters were vibrant and fun and really entertained us. I'd definitely recommend it.
This is an excellent place to eat for even the most demanding palates. It's highly recommended and easy to park. A great place where I often have breakfast with my coworkers. Their signature dish, personally, is "the Iberian secret".
Located next to the bingo. Good spot to eat ribs, suckling pig, potatoes with egg and sausage, eat a lot and well, you won't get tired of looking at their photos of famous people, good service, tasting menus, no waste.
The Rocambolec is owned by the Roca brothers, who also own the Can Roca restaurant, and is a mandatory stop in the city of Girona. Their ice cream is delicious - not just because they're craftsmen, but because they have different flavours, like roasted green apple or chocolate brownie. Despite the quality, the prices aren't expensive, and the flavours are delicious. Very nicely decorated and worth a visit.
Very good service in a friendly atmosphere. A good place to go for both couples and families, with great value for money. We randomly picked it, and it was probably the best place that we ate at during our weekend in Girona. The snails are tremendous, the best I've ever eaten. 100% recommended.
