Miles and miles of white sand and blue sea wait at Is Arutas. The whiteness of the sand defies description and probably requires a good pair of sunglasses! It's locally known as "rice grain beach" because of the tiny quartz crystals that compose the shore. When you add to that the fact that it's still free of the mass-tourism and crowds so common on the Sardinian coast, it's paradise. That's why I'd really suggest spending at least one day of your Sardinia trip at Is Arutas.
Is Arutas is easy to reach by car and there's a parking lot nearby. There are some small snack bars at the beach where you can have lunch. While you're there, don't miss a visit to Tharros. Sardinia, after all, is more than just the beach. I'd also suggest spending the night in Santulussurgiu, a picturesque village that's full of great traditional restaurants.
