They sell it as "the Mediterranean as it once was", which is quite an advertising campaign hook, quite unrealistic in my opinion. In any case, the Dalmatian coast is a beautiful place to visit and a good way to explore it is on one of the small cruises that run through it. These boats have a limited number of berths (about 15 or so) but this made us build a really good rapport with the other passengers. During the day you can sunbathe on deck and in the evenings you make stops at Dubrovnik, Korcula, Hvar, etc.. One of the most interesting places was the famous Zlatni Rat beach or Golden Horn and, although the ship cannot dock at the shore, it is well worth it.
If there is something special about this lighthouse it is its location. It is on the easternmost tip of the island of Hvar in Croatia, one end is close to the Croatian coast, the area of "Makarska Riviera". It is a picturesque lighthouse, and you catch one of the many ferries that leave from the town of Sućuraj to Drvenik, and on the coast of Dalmatia. You can access it by following the coastline from Sućuraj, I do not think there's much distance from the village itself, but as seen in the photos, it seems as if it is the end of the world. For being a beacon, the construction is different to that of a normal headlight. Instead of following the pattern of construction to build a very tall tower to guide ships, it has harnessed the naturally rounded apex but also pointed that the island of Hvar, and has built an unique and picturesque lighthouse, never had seen one of these features. It's a pretty tiny lighthouse which has a nice house attached to the structure, so I guess that will have been home at the time (now I guess not ...), inhabited by people. Of course, sleep is show and get out of bed, right in the most eastern corner of the island of Hvar and contemplate the blue Adriatic Biokovo mountain range right ... I think that feeling does not have to be priceless. A picturesque corner , that also serves as the last bastion of the island of Hvar, helping and guiding boats and ferries to not collide with that vertex behind which hides the mini-Sućuraj Bay.
