It was a very cold day when I stopped at the Tourist Office in Sierras of Encalada, belonging to the Township of Las Heras in the province of Mendoza. My intention was to find out about of the state of the roads. As soon as I entered I got the whiff of kerosene from the stove, and went straight to it in search of the some heat, because it was so cold outside. As I warmed up I found out, from the woman who greeted me kindly, that the roads were closed. Having no possibility of continuing, the friendly conversation turned to other places we could visit in the area. The information I received from them, including maps and brochures, was excellent, plentiful and very detailed, and the very warm attention, not only for the stove, but the passion with which they explained, showed their love for these inhospitable places.
