Barra da Lagoa, situated on the island of Florianopolis, is a place which has managed to maintain its architecture and to keep their traditions alive. If you go to the bridge from the center, you can see people here playing dominoes in the square or fishing in the river with a very special net system that is only seen in this area. This place has not yet been subject to development and that makes it a very special place.
One of the most beautiful beaches I saw when I went to Brazil (I saw a few .. so maybe this comment is not very helpful hehe .. but it was really good!). When you get there, you see a town and when you get to the beach there is a sort of a mini river that you have to cross by swimming or canoeing - the sea is SPECTACULAR, very warm and quiet! There is also the possibility of a great view of the entire beach by climbing a hill (quite accessible to the public). You can also surf and skate board (sooo good!) RECOMMENDED!
I was at the Ilha de Campeche during a trip last Christmas, when I traveled all around southern Brazil. The island is a wonderful, protected place that can only be accessed for four hours a day, by small boats. There is a small historic walking route and of course the tranquil blue sea to enjoy.
Just beautiful, with an exquisite sunset, happy and friendly people, plenty of bars, shops, options for lunch, and full of hostels where you can make new friends with tourists from all over the world. On the streets you'll see people enjoying an active, healthy lifestyle, running and playing sports. You can walk for about 40 minutes to get to the beach of Praia da Joaquina, full of charming vegetation and surf shops. You can try your hand at plenty of water sports. I recommend the Conceio Concept to sleep. It is located next to a supermarket, close to stores, bars, and with wonderful owners ... I can't wait to go back!
Bombinhas Township is made up of many beaches, Bombas, Bombinhas, Cuatro Ilhas, Mariscal, Sepultura, and thesebeaches are close to each other. Bombinhas beach is a quiet beach, good for diving, with white sands and its coast has many bars to eat or drink. Pumps beach is more extensive, and is more similar to wave than bombinhas. Both have an avenue where one can find everything he or she needs for a nice vacation, pharmacy, supermarkets, cyber, pubs, shops, etc.. A more usefil beach for surfing is Cuatro ilhas, which is a smaller beach but also has a cute place to go walking. What I like a lot about brazilian beaches is this mix of landscapes and beach vegetation. For one you can stay in hotels, inns or rent a house. Best or at least what we did the times we went, was to go and rent there, because you can fight and also the price you see what rent, but economically not what concerned you can stay where you want. This very prepared for tourists.
We went with friends to spend the New Year in Bombinhas. During the days before the night of Reveillon, we visited the different beaches around. Praia do Bombinhas is popular, so it is crowded. The waters are calm, and there are many lodges, bars, food stalls, restaurants, etc.. There are also many diving schools offering snorkel rental items, etc.. for not only bombinhas, but also on some beaches and islands. Regarding the weather, we were lucky to be there on such nice days, except the odd cloud, but they go away. The main street (Avenida Manoel Jose Dos Santos) can be walked from end to end in a short while. It is full of galleries, business meals, clothing shops, supermarkets, pharmacies, parlors, etc.. It features a craft fair and at night there is great movement of young people hanging out in bars, or simply meeting on the street. For New Year's Eve, everyone goes to the beach for a while before 12 to make the countdown in the final seconds, and enjoy the spectacular amount of fireworks that can be seen along the coast. Heladeritas carry their drinks and toast, and some have white roses that they throw into the sea while asking for their wishes for the new year. When the fireworks become scarce people starts moving around the beaches, as Lagoinha.
This is a small town of artisan Fishermen, athletes and tourists. It's beautiful here. You have everything for the traveler as well as many places to set up the tent without paying. It's very safe here, it's one of those places that you'll never forget. It is in the southern part of Santa Catalina near Floripa, Brazil.
If you get a rainy day, you can go to the centre of Florianópolis. There is a mall, called Beiramar Shopping, with enough entertainment. It's great. I was in Ferrugem and took the Bondi to the Floria terminal (I think it was about 2 hours and the ticket is cheap, though I don't remember the exact price from 2010). It's a very nice city, with too much traffic for my taste, but clean and brightly lit.
The 4 Ilhas beach is less crowded than Bombinhas and about half as big. You can have a relaxing walk here and sit wherever you want. There are a few places to buy things and some other house or inn overlooking the sea. On the other half of the beach though, there´s almost nothing. Toward the end of the beach there is a hill that you can climb to get a spectacular view of the rocks. You can climb through these too and then get back to the seashore where the waves break. This is a good spot for surfing so there is a place where you can rent boards and take lessons.
Praia Ferrugem, very close to Praia Rosa, 15 Km from Garopaba, is this very large beach, with many houses and lodges for rent. Usually during the months of January and February, the Argentine teenagers fill the beach, but later it is a special place for relaxation and tranquility ...............
GAROPABA is a pretty and secluded beach, located on the coast of the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil, only 91 km away from the important city of Florianopolis. This beach was discovered in the 70s by adventurous tourists, who found in this small fishing village. It is a perfect spot to go with tents and backpacks and hang out for a bit .... It is also great for those looking for ecotourism and water sports. Its name GAROPABA, comes from the Guarani language and its meaning is: PLACE OF BOATS.
Florianópolis is a unique place for nature, with its combination of the beach with the hills. It's a great destination for lovers of hiking, and there are plenty of different trails available. The paths are very well-marked, and are ideal to follow in the morning, when the heat isn't too bad. The scenery and views are spectacular.
