In the corner of the market square Roseneck (corner of roses) is one of the original city fountains. This magnificent fountain extols the characteristics of the fauna of the Black Forest and attracts attention by its bright colors and gold sparkles. It was designed in 1992 by Professor Lohrer. This part of the square has a Mediterranean style with beautiful flower beds, fountains, rows of water and shops, terraces and ice cream parlours. You feel that you are in the arcades of some Italian or French city. Perfect to sit on one of their delightful terraces and enjoy a pleasant atmosphere with the soothing sound of water around ;-).
The museum occupies the center of the monumental plaza and takes us into the fascinating history of the city of joy (Freudenstadt). Like most museums in the Black Forest, the tour is free, but unfortunately they only have information in German. There are several floors, including a loft, telling the simple stories of the inhabitants of this particular German area. For me, the highlight is the permanent exhibition on the second world war and the disaster that led to this city being bombed. In Germany it is known as the city of "miracles". From the top you get the most spectacular images of the Marktplatz.
