A social reformer
The Henry George Birthplace Museum is located in Philadelphia. Henry George, a journalist and self-taught political economist, was born September 2, 1839 at 413 South 10th Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died on October 29, 1897 in New York during his second campaign for the mayoral office. His ideas inspired writings of an international social movement of great importance to ensure true freedom and equal opportunity for all, permanently ending all forms of monopoly - most importantly, the monopoly of renting land.
