One of the most famous monuments of lucca

This tower is one of the most famous monuments of Lucca, and one of the few medieval towers still standing strong. It was built in 1390 by the Guinigi family (rich bankers from Lucca) as a demonstration of their power and prestige. What stands out about this tower is the oak garden on top of it, which you can visit (by going up 231 steps) and find beautiful views of the city. If I remember correctly, the entry fee is 3.50€.

The garden was very cool

We were walking through the streets of Lucca and saw this tower, and we were immediately struck by the trees growing on top of it and decided to climb up for a closer look. The garden was very cool once we got up there .... I'd suggest bringing up something to eat or drink and just hanging out in the shade of the trees and enjoying the views of the beautiful city.

Tower bankers

In the small and for many unfamiliar town of Lucca found a sumptuous tower more than 44 meters high, the Guinigi Tower, icon of the city for its majesty and for being one of the most preserved higher than an (at the time had 250 ms). In addition highlighted by another characteristic, the presence of a small garden with oak on top. The tower was ordered built by one of the richest families in the city, the Guinigi bankers (hence the name of the tower) in the year 1390. During my visit to the city, I was hard to find the tower initially, since the structure of the city consists of narrow streets make difficult spot her, and especially allows tourists to get an idea of the difficulty debi have its construction in the enclave. High temperatures (went after eating in summer) and 231 steps made hard climb but the view you can see from the top makes it worth the effort. Indicate in detail, the last section is a bit more complicated and narrow, though short, and that the top is not too wide. When you reach the top of the Guinigi Tower, I found myself with about 8 or 9 people, no more. The normal ticket price is 4 euros and listen to me, worth it for the views.

High tower palace

In the city of Lucca are many noble buildings, a legacy of the medieval economic strength. Among these buildings is the house Guinigi, brick, with a mighty tower, on which grow leafy trees. In the middle of a town is not particularly easy to see the nobility of the building, Gothic windows, or the beautiful tower. It was truly difficult to locate the tower in the middle of the narrow streets of Lucca. Some of the noble houses next door also belonged to the noble family of the Guinigi. Other civilian representative buildings are the Civic Tower delle Hore, XIII, and Palazzo Pfanner, the XVII. In the square is the magnificent Palazzo Napoleonne Provinciale, Bartolomeo Ammannati, sixteenth century.

This lucca tuscan city is famous for ...

This Lucca Tuscan city is famous for its intact city walls of approximately 4 miles of perimeter. I found it very interesting to wander through the narrow streets of the old town, and be surprised in arriving in the circular plaza, built on the ruins of a Roman amphitheater from which it takes its name. But the most amazing way to enjoy a 360 ° panoramic view of the city is to climb 25 flights of stairs to get to the top Guinigi Tower 45 meters high, thus having another great surprise: The presence of a small garden compound seven oaks!

Lucca

Guinigi tower

The Guinigi Tower is one of the main historical monuments of the city of Lucca, Tuscany. It is located in the heart of the city pedestrianized, intramural, and is easily identifiable by far. Indeed difficult to miss this fortified edifice that seems straight out of the Middle Ages, with its cap vgtale giving him a little look human! The tower visit and, if the climb is tiring, it offers visitors a stunning panorama of the whole city below, completely poustouflant.

Tour guinigi

La Torre Guinigi is the highlight of the visit to Lucca. Whether to take his courage in both hands to climb hundreds of steps to the top, the effort well worth it quad we admire the view overlooking Lucca all while staying in the shade of olive trees planted there. An originality that distinguishes twice la Torre Guinigi and allows it to be seen from afar. A tower with trees at the top, it is in any case the first time we saw it!

Lucca view

It's worth a little sweat 'and go up the steps of the ancient tower three hundred and passes, to get to admire the view of what, personal opinion, is the most beautiful cities of Tuscany. Also deserve to complete the tour, a tour of the walls, maybe a bike, a stop at the historic Caffè "Simo" and a visit to the wonderful Piazza dell 'amphitheater. Have fun!

Lucca vista dall'alto

Buon divertimento!

A breathtaking view of lucca from thi...

A breathtaking view of Lucca from this historic tower. The whole is definitely the small roof garden, which lies on the top. It's really worth climbing to the top. The tower is an integral part of the building Guinigi that bears the name of a famous (at the time) Lucca.
