Something off of a postcard

I loved Nyhavn. It wasn't what I was expecting (major tourist attraction, tons of tourists, bars and traffic). It was really calm like it had just woken up, serene and quiet, full of light and color.
It wasn't difficult to imagine how it would be in full swing, back when it was an area for sailors and prostitutes, gambling houses and delinquency. Really it's the ideal setting for the image we have in our heads of where novels such as Moby Dick, or Jack London novels, could easily begin.
The spring appears not to have changed and the houses right next to it look like they're right off of a postcard.

The nihavn district

Copenhagen is not a very monumental city. You do not need much time to visit it since seeing the Winter Palace, Amalienborg, and Citadel Park and the stock market are the only noteworthy things to see. The Little Mermaid is on the outskirts of town and it's disappointing because of where it is located. What I did like was the colorful and lively Nyhavn, a neighborhood for sailors has become a lively canal area with preserved houses over 500 years old and many cafes and bars. When there is good weather, all the locals gather there, on the channel parapet, or at tables in the street.

Nyhavn - the charm of the colors

Nyhavn, which translated into Italian reads "New Port", is actually the old harbor of Copenhagen. It is one of the more touristy areas of the city, characterized by solid buildings with different colors whose glance is really fascinating, almost eccentric. In this area it is easy to find old boats moored, but also boats ready to leave, perhaps for a tour through the channels of the city. There is no shortage of restaurants, cafes and bars, where you can enjoy a good meal or relax for a few minutes admiring the port area with a coffee or good beer Danish: even during the winter season, for those who love the outdoors, are used, along channel, tables with special blankets provided by the waiters. At the end of Nyhavn is possible to admire a beautiful monument, the Memorial Still, in memory of those who died during the Second World War: here, every year on 5 May, the day of the liberation of Denmark, is celebrated the official ceremony in honor of the fallen. Nyhavn is therefore one of the most special and beautiful in Copenhagen, thanks to its many colors, very reminiscent of the Dutch canals, and its vitality given by great influx of tourists. How to get certainly the fastest way to reach the port are the ships: as the starting point, that does not stop, any boat will take you here. Being located very close to Strøget, armed with map you will be able to reach in a short time on foot. For those who love the convenience instead there are several bus lines and many bus stops, the most comfortable are the Kongens Nytorv stop from which the bus passes the 26, not the metropolitan M1 and M2. Another stop is Nyhavnsbroen reached by bus 66. Finally, the stop Tivoli Hotel reachable by bus 11A. Ticket price M1/M2/Bus 9A: 24 crowns (more than 3 €).

Come arrivare

So elegantly in one city !!!

I've always had wanderlust since I was very little, now I have the opportunity and also live in a country that is geographically well located, I take all these joints to satisfy that passion! I've been fortunate since I came to Europe to go slowly discovering it, but on my last trip, I was very impressed by Copenhagen, Denmark's capital .... and is that being a northern country, always think in a cold country, in people cold and distant people, I take tremendous surprise to the country itself and its people ..... Besides being in the top 10 capital with better standard of living, this capital is very stylish, colorful, having the privilege of enjoying buildings with lots of history, very different from the rest of the Nordic countries ..... They are very open, friendly, funny and cheerful people, nothing to do with the alleged "Nordic" One night life that has nothing to envy to Madrid, let alone to New York that's saying something.

Colour!

I love Copenhagen! As you arrive at the station go in search of your hostel booked and if you think that the names of the roads is understandably difficult for you to name and well I remember you're wrong! In Copenhagen, only 30% of the population and use the car so you'll whiz like bicycle rickshaw with children inside or expense from all sides but only in cycling! Respect is the first thing so if you are a pedestrian walking in your dedicated space, not through a red light pedestrian because they recognize that you are Italian and most importantly made literally drag the calm and grace with which the Danes, albeit late , walking .... you will feel relaxed even if you have walked a lot of miles! Taste various typical sweets and when you drag the Nyhavn harbor facts by the colors, the music, the cafes and calm the chaos that reigns!

Colour!

Adoro Copenhagen!

The new port, a dynamic place

Nyhavn is Copenhagen, and the "New Port", created by King Frederik V in the 17th century. This is actually a channel that connects the sea to the old town, where the boats déchargaient their goods at the time. Over the past forty years Nihavn became a very popular place for tourists, "fashionable", the platform turned into a pedestrian street and canal filled with old wooden boats. With its old picturesque and colorful houses on each side of the canal, the street offers a variety of restaurants, pubs and cafe where you might find your happiness, for prices not so excessive it. Every 30 minutes there are excursions by boat or channels around the port that will take you to explore the historic sites and famous places around. Discovering the Danish capital Nihavn is the place not to be missed, it's nice, vibrant and beautiful!

The port of nyhavn in copenhagen

I was sorpreendida to stroll along the harbor of Nyhavn, when I saw that their channels were completely frozen, it was winter and it was sunny, the perfect combination for a special evening, but it was very, very cold ... Ships that do not move and are standing there on the ice ... :), Give it charm. Formerly an area for unemployed sailors, prostitutes and drunks. Today it is one of the best areas. The famous writer Hans Christian Andersen lived twenty years in No 18 and No 67. There, besides the canal boats and there are restaurants to suit all tastes and palates and end of the port can contemplate the Copenhagen Opera.

The charm of the buildings

One of the most popular areas of the city and possibly one of the most spectacular. The old buildings and diferetes colors give this part of town endearing look where you can also enjoy a nice boat ride through the canals of Copenhagen. There are many local terrace conmida taste good and some beers (Carlsberg, of course), if the weather permits.

Nyhavn in danish, 'new port', probabl...

Nyhavn in Danish, 'new port', probably the most French of the capital district! We hear the language of Molière at every step! Is the number of restaurants in the appetizing menus that attracts? Or is it the majestic sailboats docked at the port? Or else it's because they all chose one of the hotels overlooking the canal, to spend their nights? The fact is that, based on whatever reason, the new port is charming. Positioned at the end of 'Strøget', the longest pedestrian street in the city, it is an essential visit for any good self-respecting tourist!
