After much searching, we found this property in a perfect location, Finstown, the third most populated centre on Mainland located between the two main cities: Kirkwall and Stromness. Overlooking the Bay of Firth (on the seafront), these apartments offer two major benefits. The first advantage is the price. It's the cheapest accommodation because a hotel was about 60 pounds per double room, while the entire apartment was 40 pounds per night. The second is the location. Almost all the important places are within a 25 kilometre radius. The property is extremely clean and well kept, and the owners offer good service. The apartments are divided into three categories, corresponding to the number of rooms. They kind of look like modern cabins, each has a shared entrance with a covered porch and then access to each apartment. The living room overlooks the sea, you could practically jump out the window into it. The views are spectacular. For us, it was a special place. We would definitely go back if we were in Orkney again.

This development, in the center of London, is a very good example of utopian constructions that manage to function (usually such developments become 'gray' zones in the demographics of cities) and I think this is due to several factors. Barbican is not simply a set of residential buildings but also an important cultural center (The Barbican Arts Centre), a public library, an important school of music and performing arts (Guildall School or Music and Drama) and a school for girls. All these establishments comprise the Barbican Complex and devour a good afternoon of a day trip. The complex was built by architects Chamberlin, Powell and Bon between 1965 and 1976, today it's one of the most coveted residential sites.
The hotel is located within walking distance of the train station, it is a complex of apartments offering ideal access to Leeds and Manchester. They are also equipped with separate bedroom, living and kitchen areas. All of the apartments are non-smoking, and offer all the comforts for the guests.

Last weekend we traveled to the wonderful city of London. Needless to say, this is a fantastic city, full of attractions and things to see. We are a married couple with two children aged 10 and 12. Although we had first chosen a hotel in the Kings Cross area, after having problems with Vueling, we had to cancel that reservation and by chance there was availability at the MINC City Reach.
Well, it was a very pleasant surprise! The apartment was very good. Ours had two spacious rooms, two bathrooms, a dining room and a large kitchen. Everything was great, and fully furnished in a modern style. As a bonus, the Aldgate East station is 70 meters away. Transportation is good, and in addition to the metro there are lots of bus lines.
If you must find a downside, it would be that the hotel is in the city, and the weekend is a bit dead, but in 10 minutes or less you are in Picadilly.
I highly recommend this place for a family. You can make do with the kitchen, as dinner in London is generally expensive. A word of advice - if you stay here, you must remember to ask for the access code before leaving for your trip. It's very easy and when you book the hotel, they will tell you how to do it. That said, it is important to have the check in part done because there is no one working in the building. They are shared apartments with no contact person.
After all that, the important thing - enjoy London!
This past October, my wife and I took our second trip to London. We decided to find quality accommodation, alternative to a hotel, and found this place located three minutes from Acton Town underground station. For 4 people, it was great value for money, I will leave the link so you can see it. http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p824633 # map.
The State Apartments are an integral part of Windsor Castle and are decorated with some of the finest works of art from the Royal Collection, including paintings by Rembrandt, Rubens, Canaletto and Gainsborough. There are also works by Holbein, Brueghel and Van Dyck. If you have the chance to go to London between October and March, don't miss a visit to George IV's private apartments! It's the most richly-decorated part of the castle. Tip: do not miss the Queen's dollhouse - it's the most famous one in the world!
Want to visit London? Magalie offers a rental apartment with two bedrooms in the heart of the city. It's quiet at night and you get your own set of keys so you can come and go as you please. Bed linens and towels are provided. The apartment is situated near the Elephant and Castle and Borough tube stations. You're also only a 15 minutes' walk from London Bridge.
I would totally recommend this place for its excellent value. It's a hostel, and more of the rooms are shared, with shared bathrooms, too, but there are also doubles with en-suites, which is the option I went for. There's a fully equipped kitchen on each foor, a TV and internet lounge, a terrace and laundry facilities. The clientele are quiet, there's no noise pollution, and the beds are pretty comfortable. It's located in Zone 2 of the underground, and there are plenty of shops and supermarkets nearby. They give you linen and a towel, and you'll have to pay a £5 deposit for the key, and another 5 if you want a hairdryer. The rooms are small, without any chairs, but there's a closet and a small fridge. The only bad thing is that they only clean the rooms twice a week, and the cleaning is really just changing the sheets and towels.
Tigh Mor Trossachs is a holiday apartment complex located on Lake Venachar at the foot of the famous Ben A'an mountain. It has a heated pool, game room, gym and even its own cafe. And all for the modest price of...well, that's the thing...the prices aren't modest.
The building was once the palace of the Marquis of Montrose in the times of Rob Roy (a kind of Scottish Robin Hood immortalized in film by Liam Neeson). This is where it is believed that the Scottish bandit defended his honor against the power of the Argyll family. Anyways, these are beautiful luxury apartments so the price is pretty high. The location in the heart of the Trossachs National Park, though, is priceless.
Plane Castle is an absolute gem I was lucky enough to stumble across during a walk along the rural roads around Stirling. It once belonged to none other than the Baron of Plane who received ti from Robert Bruce himself after the the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
This castle is now a rental property that can accommodate up to 20 people. It is ideal for weddings and has gardens, a pond, a playground, barbecue area, tree houses and more. The castle still has its original fireplaces.Of course, the prices are high but the place is incredible...it even has secret passages!
I was in luck the day I visited because the manager was there and was kind enough to show me around. Absolutely unforgettable place. If I get married one day, I'll keep it in mind!
