Bethune Memorial House National Historic Site

1 review of Bethune Memorial House National Historic Site

A historic site

Mary McLeod Bethune achieved his greatest national and international recognition in the Washington D.C. townhouse on 1318 Vermont Avenue, NW, and is now this historic site. It was the first headquarters of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and was her last home in Washington D.C. From here, Bethune and the Council launched developmental strategies and programs of interest to African American women and the Black community.
