Buvette

During my journey to the centre of Portugal I was struck by the Source Albano Coutinho (Buvette) from where the waters flow with their healing properties especially for skin and rheumatic diseases. It is known by both the locals and tourists who go to the pools and spa to bathe in the healing water. In the beginning the creation of Spa was the result of the initiative of some notable figures, including Mary Emilia Seabra de Castro, wife of José Luciano de Castro, leader of the old Progressive Party and a very influential politician. Thus the origin of this resource dates back to 1863 and it is the work of the French engineer, La Chapelle.
