More than 200 relics!

Dubrovnik Cathedral (also known as the Assumption Cathedral) is a great baroque cathedral built after the earthquake of 1667 that destroyed much of the city. Inside, you'll find an incredible treasure trove of paintings and relics of saints, more than 200 in total! There's even a fragment of the cross on which Christ was killed. The cathedral was originally built in the Byzantine style in the 7th century, but was later renewed as a Romanesque church in the twelfth century. According to legend, it was sponsored by a grant from Richard the Lionheart whose ship sank off the coast of Dalmatia, and was rescued in Dubrovnik.
